The beginnings of Varteks date back to 1918, when Tekstilna tvornica Varaždin was founded. The production of wool yarn and fabrics begins in 1922, while the production process expands to the production of garments in 1926 and the first store is opened as early as 1929.
Until 1948, the factory carries the name Tekstilna industrija d.d. Varaždin, or abbreviated Tivar, which is today's name of Varteks's Textiles Production Sector. Under its later name Varteks, the factory grows into the country's largest producer and exporter of textiles. In 1972, the brand name Varteks International is created and Varteks begins cooperation with Levi's® eleven years later. In 1994, the brand Di Caprio M&W is created, which positions itself as Varteks's premium brand soon.
On the occasion of its 90th founding anniversary, the company receives a new look in the spring of 2008. For its big anniversary, Varteks presents itself with a new and modern identity that retains the message of Varteks’s tradition and quality, but also goes a step further towards new values.
